Spectral Properties of a Styryl Derivative of Benzothiazole Containing a Linker Group
摘要
A study was carried out on the absorption and fluorescence spectra of a new benzothiazole dye, namely, monocarbostyrylbenzothiazole (Th-C7) containing a carboxyl group as a linker. An experimental study and quantum chemical calculations indicated that this dye exhibits molecular rotor properties, which is seen in the strong dependence of the fluorescence quantum yield on the solution viscosity. The fluorescence quantum yield of Th-C7 molecules also depends on the solvent polarity such that this dye can be considered a solvatochromic molecular rotor.
