Book Review: The Second Handbook of Academic Integrity (Edited by Sarah Elaine Eaton, 2024)
摘要
The Second Handbook of Academic Integrity (Eaton, 2024) represents a significant conceptual expansion from Bretag’s, 2016 volume by reframing academic integrity as a transdisciplinary field of research, policy, and practice. Central to the handbook is the Comprehensive Academic Integrity (CAI) model, which conceptualises integrity as an ethical ecosystem comprising eight interrelated dimensions that extend beyond rule adherence toward moral development, ethical decision-making, and systemic responsibility. The handbook integrates emerging issues such as artificial intelligence ethics, digital surveillance, decolonisation, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and situates integrity within global and culturally diverse contexts. Spanning XI parts and comprising 112 articles, the volume emphasises pedagogical approaches, ethical assessment, and restorative practices as foundations for cultivating integrity. While the handbook offers breadth and contemporary relevance, it remains limited by uneven regional representation and varying analytical depth. Nevertheless, it stands as a comprehensive reference that advances a holistic and globally informed paradigm for academic integrity.
