摘要

Technological advancements in telecommunication sector from 1G to 5G have enhanced industrial and societal productivity. However, the surge in mobile subscribers, mobile devices, and network components is inflating the carbon footprint, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. This is expected to rise with future technologies, especially in countries like India, which has vast subscriber potential. Thus, adopting green technologies is crucial to curb emissions. This exploratory research aims to study the readiness of telecommunication firms in India for adopting and implementing green technology. Open-ended, semi-structured interviews were conducted with telecom experts and analyzed using Gioia methodology. The study identifies ten unique concepts and seven unique themes of green technology readiness. A multidimensional green technology readiness framework is proposed. The findings are valuable for telecommunication managers to assess and enhance the firm’s readiness level for making the right investment decisions and for policymakers to design appropriate policies for the faster adoption of green technology.
