<p>This article aims to provide a country-specific analysis of the legal and&#xa0;institutional challenges regarding water and marine pollution in Türkiye.&#xa0;Based on its examination, it identifies three primary categories of&#xa0;challenges: coverage, coherence and efficacy of the national framework.&#xa0;Under coverage, it focuses on legislative and policy measures; and their&#xa0;alignment with relevant international/ regional/ EU requirements. With&#xa0;respect to coherence, it questions whether the system functions coherently.&#xa0;Regarding efficacy, it scrutinizes different phases of implementation and&#xa0;enforcement. Finally, relying on its findings, it suggests a compliance-based&#xa0;approach with a good governance strategy to overcome these challenges.</p>
