Reconfiguring futures: students’ career and life anticipations in the context of the Anthropocene
摘要
We explored how awareness of the ecological crisis shapes the present lives and future anticipations of university students concerned with sustainability issues. We conducted interviews with 15 students in Switzerland. Consensual qualitative analyses showed that career planning was rarely a primary concern. Instead, participants prioritized social and ecological considerations linked to the climate crisis. While some oriented their careers toward socially or environmentally useful occupations, others integrated these concerns into existing paths or reported no clear professional link between ecological awareness and their career plans. Overall, social and environmental concerns led participants to prioritize a meaningful future over their careers.
