摘要

This study validates the Arabic version of the Career Adaptability Scale (CAAS) for Algerian university students. It emphasizes the need for culturally relevant career assessment tools in a challenging labor market with high graduate unemployment. The CAAS measures four essential dimensions—concern, control, curiosity, and confidence—for navigating career transitions. A sample of 331 Algerian university students (ages 18–46, M = 22.68, SD 4.67) completed the Arabic CAAS, translated using a rigorous forward–backward method with cultural adaptations for Algeria. The scale was administered alongside the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and the Flourishing Scale (FS). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to test the four-factor structure, with assessments for model invariance across gender and employment status. After removing one poorly fitting item and correlating error terms for two thematically related items, the revised CFA model demonstrated a strong fit (χ2/df = 1.94, CFI = 0.923, TLI = 0.912, RMSEA = 0.062, SRMR = 0.051). The scale exhibited high reliability (α = 0.933, ω = 0.937), and configural, metric, and scalar invariance were confirmed across gender and employment status. While convergent validity was adequate, concurrent validity was supported by moderate correlations with flourishing and life satisfaction. The Arabic CAAS is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing career adaptability in Algeria. It provides practical utility for career guidance in the context of high graduate unemployment. The study’s limitations include its exclusive focus on a student sample and its cross-sectional design, which indicate that future research should consider diverse populations and adopt longitudinal approaches.
