Highly Selective Two-Mirror Open Resonators Containing a Circular Cavity
摘要
Open resonators formed by coupling a circular cavity with a top mirror are studied in the 70–80 GHz frequency range. Configurations with spherical and cylindrical top mirrors are considered. It is shown that, under a specific mirror-matching condition, the open-resonator spectrum becomes very sparse and a single mode with a spatially extended RF field distribution is excited over the entire 70–80 GHz band. Such resonators are promising for efficient mode selection in THz gyrotrons and for precise dielectric permittivity measurements.
