摘要

This longitudinal study examines whether institutional adoption of AI-supported academic systems reduces dropout in public universities in Colombia and Peru (2019–2024). Using a balanced panel of 78 institutions, we estimate effects with institution and year fixed effects, difference-in-differences with an event-study specification, and instrumental variables using regional internet infrastructure. Secondary-data reliability is strengthened through Benford’s Law diagnostics and cross-source concordance tests. Across specifications, AI adoption is associated with 2.3–3.1 percentage-point declines in institutional dropout rates, and dynamic estimates indicate effects grow after implementation. Findings inform technology investment, readiness assessment, and phased deployment strategies in resource-constrained higher education systems for policymakers.
