Experimental investigation of efficiency of natural adsorbents for treatment of reactive black-5 dye wastewater
摘要
Industrial dye wastewater is one of the major environment pollutants around the chemical industries. To overcome this problem, various kind of adsorbents are used in treatment of wastewater. The dye sample used in this study was Reactive Black 5, a common reactive azo dye widely employed in dye industries. The solution had a pH of 6–8 and was maintained at room temperature, showing variable color intensity but no turbidity. Key parameter of the untreated dye solution were: COD 5000–8000 mg/L. From Fenton’s reagent, the dye effluent sludge was removed and extracted till water became clearest. Then, different adsorbents such as coconut shell ash, pomegranate peel, sugarcane bagasse coated with moringa seeds, corn cob ash can be developed, characterized and used for wastewater generated during preparation of the dye sample. After the treatment, the efficiency of the adsorbents was measured. With the help of different type of experimental analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
