<p>The article analyses the approaches to assessing socioeconomic effects of the construction and operation of hydroelectric power plants. The authors argue that it is expedient, feasible and possible to determine such effects correctly in the process of discussion on the justification of mechanisms of state support for projects for the construction of new hydroelectric power plants.</p>
