<p>Growing digitalization is reshaping how younger generations develop relationships with the environment. Excessive digital engagement may displace direct interactions with social and natural environments that support the development of prosocial values and place-based attachment, which are two key social drivers of collective environmental actions. Yet little is known about how digital dependence relates to collective actions for climate adaptation among adolescents who have grown up online. Collecting data from 7,121 adolescents across five regions in China, this study examines how digital dependence relates to adolescents’ donations for climate adaptation. Regression and machine-learning analyses show a consistent negative association between digital dependence and climate donations. Path analyses indicate that this relationship is explained by reduced social value orientation and weaker place attachment. Family and classroom contexts also shape climate donations. These findings suggest that digitally intensive environments may weaken the social and place-based processes through which adolescents develop cooperative responses to environmental challenges. Environmental programs strengthening social interactions and direct experiences with local environments may help counterbalance digital displacement and encourage actual contributions for climate adaptation among younger generations.</p><p><b>Clinical Trial Registration</b></p><p>Not applicable.</p>

Disconnecting from the Earth? Digital Dependence and the Social Foundations of Youth Climate Action
