Knowledge and Practices of Soil Protection Among Ethnic Minority Women in A Ngo Commune, A Luoi District, Hue City, Vietnam
摘要
Our objectives were: (i) to evaluate ethnic minority women’s basic understanding of soil health by assessing their ability to identify soil health characteristics; (ii) to analyze their current farming practices related to soil health preservation; and (iii) to recommend key content and practical methods for raising awareness, building knowledge, and guiding farming activities aimed at protecting and restoring soil health in their cultivated areas, based on the findings. To meet these goals, we used measurement scales to assess soil-related knowledge and soil health-related farming behaviors. We surveyed 62 women involved in crop cultivation. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 16. The reliability and validity of the scales were confirmed, with Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.713 and 0.728, both within the acceptable range for good internal consistency. Cronbach’s alpha if items were deleted ranged from 0.68 to 0.75, mostly above 0.70, indicating satisfactory reliability of the measurement scales.
