<p>We explore how the Aneuk Jamee community in South Aceh uses taboos to govern water, forest, and agricultural resources, and examine generational differences in ecological knowledge. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining semi-structured interviews and surveys with 150 respondents across different age groups. Statistical analysis evaluated the effectiveness of taboo and knowledge transmission. Findings indicate that forest-related taboos are seen as most effective, closely tied to cultural and spiritual beliefs. In contrast, agricultural taboos are less consistently observed and are often viewed as social or religious norms rather than ecological principles. Our study also reveals a decline in traditional ecological knowledge across generations, with younger respondents demonstrating less familiarity. These results highlight the importance of revitalizing intergenerational knowledge transfer and incorporating indigenous understanding into education and policy. We support culturally rooted conservation strategies that recognize and respect local values and knowledge systems.</p>
