<p>We examined how local knowledge helps communities adapt to water shortages in the rural areas of Gboguhé’s sub-prefecture. Using a bioanthropological perspective, we employed a qualitative approach that included methods such as direct observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews with five village chiefs, and focus groups with ten social groups representing the surveyed villages. The results demonstrate that traditional water practices help communities manage shortages while effectively meeting their water needs. Additionally, our research underscores the significance of traditional knowledge in addressing water shortages. It underscores the need for collaboration between local and scientific knowledge to develop solutions suited to the specific context, thereby promoting sustainable community resilience.</p>
