<p>The present study was carried out to investigate the taxonomic and systematics study of selected pollen grains of Paleocene Patala Formation. The samples were analyzed using the procedure of palynostratigraphic analyses and single grain method. In this palynological study samples were collected, analyzed, and then identified the pollen using different previous published literature. Botanical affinities and systematic description of the taxa were examined using light and scanning electron microscopy. Qualitative and quantitative features of the pollen were examined showing quite variation with each other. Pollen were used as an investigative tool for taxa identifications and its correlations with ancient vegetation’s. The current research work helps to find out the dominant vegetations of the study area. Arecaceae was recorded as the dominant family in the Paleocene Patala formation Pakistan. Most of the taxa explained here had a wide geographical occurrence in Pakistan and shows the abundance of angiosperms within this epoch. This study provides evidence that in Paleocene times diverse vegetations were present in the Indian subcontinent and now restricted in some parts of the northern areas. Based on the palynoflora, the paleovegetation and vegetation units will be reconstructed for different time periods of the Paleocene. The study provides information about the taxa identifications, vegetation’s origin and its changes within the study area and to reconstruct it.</p>
