摘要

The study investigates multiple community-level factors—including place attachment, environmental awareness and education, community participation, economic and socio-cultural benefits, and sustainable tourism development—impact community satisfaction and their support toward geoheritage conservation. It focuses on Resava Cave, a unique karst locality located in Eastern Serbia. Using a quota-purposive sample of adult residents of the municipality of Despotovac and applying structural equation modeling (SEM), the key factors that shape local attitudes and behaviors were identified. The findings show that all mentioned dimensions impact geoheritage conservation and community satisfaction. Place attachment turns out to be a mediator between community participation and support for geoheritage conservation and community satisfaction. The findings have important theoretical and management implications, pointing out the need for holistic approaches in managing geotourism that balance the economic, social, and ecological aspects of sustainability. The study contributes to the corpus of knowledge about sustainable tourism development in protected areas and makes concrete guidelines for community involvement and preservation of geo-heritage through the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 8, 12, and 15).
