<p>This study examines the impact of community-based ecotourism (CBE) on social transformation in rural China, specifically within the Sichuan community in the Lower Hohai region. The principal objective of this research is to examine the effects of CBE activities on the economic, socio-cultural, and environmental aspects of local communities. A qualitative methodology was used to gather data from community members and important stakeholders through in-depth interviews and field observations between 2017 and 2019. The findings indicate that whereas CBE has facilitated considerable beneficial transformations, including augmented local revenue and improved cultural awareness, it has also resulted in unforeseen social disruptions, notably economic discrepancies between homestay owners and bigger bed-and-breakfast facilities. This study highlights the necessity of meticulous management of CBE initiatives to guarantee their durability as instruments for social development. The study emphasizes the advantages and constraints of CBE as a catalyst for social transformation, providing insights into the practical application of ecotourism in rural development efforts.</p>
