摘要

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 emphasizes the imperative of ensuring universal and equitable access to water resources through targeted interventions. Nevertheless, disparities in water access persist across communities, prompting households to adopt diverse coping strategies. This study investigates the socio-spatial disparities in domestic water storage in Tlemcen, Algeria, with a particular focus on the spatial dimension of this phenomenon. Employing a quantitative methodology based on systematic field surveys, the research analyzes the spatial distribution of household water storage within the urban agglomeration and examines the geographic influences on key socioeconomic variables such as dwelling type, income, education level, homeownership, and household size that shape coping strategies. The findings reveal marked disparities in water storage practices across socioeconomic groups and spatial zones within Tlemcen. Notably, geographical location modulates the impact of socioeconomic factors, with significant variation observed between urban and peri-urban areas. By elucidating the drivers of these inequalities, this study contributes to the development of more equitable and sustainable urban water management policies. The insights gained hold broader relevance for other cities in the Global South grappling with uneven water supply and access.
