Does the World Uncertainty Index Impact Firm Performance? New Evidence from Vietnam
摘要
This is the first study to explore the impact of the World Uncertainty Index (WUI) on the performance of firms listed on the Vietnamese stock market. We utilize the System Generalized Method of Moments (SGMM) method along with data containing 3,800 firm-year observations and find that the WUI significantly impairs firm performance. The robustness of the results was verified using various analyses. The study draws important conclusions and policy recommendations, stressing the need for policymakers and business managers to succinctly outline strategies for communication and risk management in times of uncertainty.
