摘要

Pro-environmental behavior of individuals is critical for sustainable development. Hence, their pro-environmental intention must be fully understood and the formation mechanism and boundary conditions of such an intention should be determined. On the basis of value–belief–norm theory, an integrated research framework was developed to investigate the effects of values, personal norm, and green social climate on pro-environmental intention. With the assistance of questionnaire survey method, 907 valid samples were obtained and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Our findings indicated that altruistic and biosphere values are positively related to personal norm, while egoistic value is negatively related to personal norm. Moreover, a significant positive correlation exists between personal norm and pro-environmental intention. Consistent with our expectations, altruistic and biosphere values were significantly and positively correlated with pro-environmental intention, while egoistic value was significantly and negatively correlated with pro-environmental intention. Meanwhile, perceived green social climate moderated the relationship between values and pro-environment intention. On the basis of the research results, implications to promote the development of electric vehicles and future research work are further discussed.
