<p>Rapid urbanization within urban agglomerations has led to a decline in ecosystem service (ES) functions, resulting in a significant mismatch between the supply and demand of ecosystem services (ESSD). To address this issue, there is an urgent need for tailored ecological zoning control measures. However, the underlying mechanisms of ESSD remain insufficiently understood, limiting its effective implementation. This study examines the Chengdu–Chongqing urban agglomeration by assessing urbanization and ESSD levels in 2011 and 2021. It explores the spatial interplay between urbanization and ESSD and proposes an enhanced framework for ecological zoning management. The key findings are as follows: (1) the average urbanization level increased from 0.104 to 0.177; (2) ESSD exhibited a marked upward trend, with increases of 14% and 27%, respectively; (3) urbanization showed a positive correlation with services such as recreation and soil conservation, but a negative correlation with other ecosystem service demands; and (4) ecological zoning strategies should emphasize rational resource utilization, strict ecological protection, ecological restoration, and a balanced integration of ecological and economic considerations. This research provides key insights into improving ecological zoning management amid rapid urbanization and offers a useful reference for other urban agglomerations.</p>
