<p>Achieving Sustainable agricultural development is a persistent theme, and industrial integration is a crucial pathway to ensuring a stable and efficient agricultural Supply. Drawing on theoretical insights into industrial integration and using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2022, this study applies econometric models to systematically investigate its effects and underlying mechanisms. The main findings are as follows: (1) Industrial integration significantly improves the level of sustainable agricultural development, with the impact stronger for production output sustainability than for resource use or industrial system aspects. (2) Mechanism tests confirm that industrial integration promotes agricultural sustainability mainly by advancing industrial upgrading and driving technological innovation in agriculture. Meanwhile, green tax policies play a positive moderating role in this process. (3) Regional heterogeneity analysis reveals that the impact varies notably across eastern, central, and western regions, mainly due to differences in economic development, infrastructure, and rural human capital. Overall, these findings offer empirical evidence and practical guidance for developing targeted strategies to promote sustainable agriculture.</p>
