<p>Emissions discharged by high-energy-consuming firms have for long distracted biodiversity and the welfare of the population. The magnitude of emissions led Nigeria to be rated among the top global pollution producers. The justification for selecting the country is due to the little consideration given to the nation's environmental calamities of high-energy-consuming firms. This has inspired scholars to evaluate how features of the board have influenced environmental disclosure by high-energy-consuming firms. The study discriminated between board characteristics into demographical and structural attributes in assessing their influence on related energy and emissions discharged by firms for 8&#xa0;years (2016– 2023). A quantitative method was employed, and information was extracted from the accounts of eighty-three high energy-consuming firms for eight (8) years. The data is analyzed after the work runs pre-estimation and post-estimation tests. The finding of board diversity reveals an encouraging and important connection concerning the expertise of the board and environmental disclosure. This study documented that institutional investors have improved the environmental information of high energy-consuming firms. The work adds to the prevailing works by distinguishing board characteristics into attributes and diversity. The outcome of the study contributed to the sustainable development goal on climate change (SDG 13) and SDG 7 which aimed to attain modern energy for all if firms adopt and disclose energy use and emissions discharge, this could serve as a way forward to attain zero-net emission and a successful energy transition in the emerging economies.</p>
