<p>Against the backdrop of the new era, the green transformation of resource-driven companies is becoming an inexorable trend. However, in reality, enterprises face multifaceted challenges in achieving green transformation, and resolving the predicament surrounding enterprise green transformation has become a pivotal concern. Utilizing data from 173&#xa0;A-share-listed resource-based enterprises between 2019 and 2021, this research combines NCA and fsQCA methods to investigate the multifactor linkage and configurational effects driving green transformation in these enterprises. The study found that (1) resource-based firms’ green transformation stems from a complex interplay of internal and external factors and no single necessary factor. (2) The configuration pathways achieving high-level green transformation fall into three categories: green environmental protection driven type, innovation ability anchoring-environmental awareness driven type, and innovation ability anchoring-environmental protection implementation driven type. (3) Technological R&amp;D, digital transformation, executive environmental awareness, and environmental regulations are important factors in a company’s green transformation, and there are complementary and alternative relationships between executives’ environmental awareness and environmental regulation in the configuration path. These findings provide theoretical references for resource-based companies embarking on a green transformation journey, which helps enterprises grasp the green development strategy from a holistic perspective, break through the green development barriers, and realize the green transition for their companies.</p>
