摘要

In the last decades, environmental sustainability has been a critical matter globally, mostly as a result of the unpredictability of global sustainability. The study applies the Wavelet Quantile Model to examine the dynamic linkage of energy productivity, resource productivity, and carbon dioxide emissions in France. Data used for this investigation covers the period from 2000Q1 to 2022Q4. First, this study uses the Quantile Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test to test for the integration order of the time series variables. The study then uses Wavelet Quantile Correlation and Wavelet Quantile Regression to examine the associations between environment quality, energy productivity, and resource productivity. The results have found that both energy productivity and resource productivity have a negative correlation with carbon dioxide emissions. Likewise, energy and resource productivity promote the long-term reduction of carbon dioxide in France. To combat environmental pollution in France and reach its net-zero emission goal, the study concludes that resource and energy productivity can reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, policymakers in France should encourage ecologically effective and economically efficient use of energy and resources at the macro, sectoral, and micro levels.
