<p>As the volume of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) rapidly increases, the global management of WEEE faces severe challenges. In the context of circular economy, recycling and reusing WEEE is a practical approach to address these challenges and promote sustainable development. With the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), it has become feasible to apply AI technology to achieve the recycling, logistics, disassembly and reuse of WEEE. Although many studies have already applied AI to optimize the efficiency of WEEE recycling and reuse, there is still a lack of comprehensive review articles discussing the application of AI throughout the entire WEEE recycling and reuse process. To fill this gap, the application of AI across the whole WEEE process is thoroughly summarized in the paper. Firstly, a content analysis of 84 papers from 2009 to 2023 was conducted, identifying five main application processes of AI in the WEEE recycling and reuse cycle: (1) the recycling process, (2) the logistics process, (3) the disassembly process, (4) the reuse process, and (5) the management process, while also detailing specific application tasks. Subsequently, the application of AI technologies and the challenges encountered in each process are systematically expounded. Then, taking Haier Smart Home’s recycling industry as an example, it elaborates on the practical application of AI in WEEE recycling and reuse enterprises. Finally, the application challenges and future research directions are discussed, providing references for researchers and practitioners.</p>
