Effect of normal impact load on four collinear rigid strips in an orthotropic medium

This study investigates the dynamic stress intensity factor for four collinear rigid strips embedded in orthotropic medium under a normal impact load. The analysis is grounded in a mixed boundary value (MBV) problem, arising from the interactions of waves within the medium. Using the Laplace transformation and the integral equation method, the governing dual integral equations for the problem are derived and subsequently solved. The perturbation technique is applied to simplify the solution process. The stress intensity factor is subsequently determined using Zakian’s method for the Laplace inverse and is represented graphically over time. The results highlight the behavior of the stress intensity factor in both orthotropic and isotropic materials, offering valuable knowledge about their responses under impact loading conditions.
