摘要

A novel monopartite begomovirus was isolated from Achyranthes bidentata weeds exhibiting yellowing and leaf curling symptoms in Henan Province of China. The complete genome (2751 bp) was obtained via rolling circle amplification (RCA) and PCR, revealing a typical monopartite single-stranded DNA structure. Complete nucleotide sequence homology comparison showed that it has the highest sequence similarity (85.88%) with tobacco curly shoot virus (GenBank accession no. MN481156). Based on the current species demarcation criteria for the genus Begomovirus (threshold of < 91% nucleotide identity), the virus here described represents a member of a new monopartite Begomovirus species, for which the common name "achyranthes yellow leaf curl virus (AYLCV)" is proposed. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that AYLCV clustered into a small branch with tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) and TbCSV. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the occurrence of a begomovirus infecting A. bidentata in China. This findings expands the known diversity of geminiviruses and provides a foundation for monitoring and controlling viral diseases.
