Biocontrol efficacy of wettable powder formulation of Trichoderma in controlling dirty panicle and false smut diseases in rice
摘要
In this study, a wettable powder formulation of Trichoderma was developed from rice based on easy production, cost-effectiveness, and high potential for controlling rice diseases. The potential of wettable powder formulation with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was significantly greater than that of the one without it. The wettable powder formulation showed a size range of 100–600 µm and Trichoderma’s spores attached on their surfaces. The application of wettable powder formulation of T. harzianum KUFA 0402 and KUFA 0403 at 5 g/L + 1% CMC exerted potent biocontrol efficacy against dirty panicle disease, increasing rice yields up to 1,133 and 1,103 kg/ Acre when applied with KUFA 0402 and KUFA 0403, respectively, while the control had 954 kg/ Acre. They also showed significant biocontrol effects better than the wettable powder formulation of commercial biofungicide Trisan®, whereas the fungicidal application showed highest effectiveness in controlling the disease compared to the control. The wettable powder formulation of T. harzianum KUFA 0740 with CMC displayed high antagonistic activity in controlling rice false smut disease, resulting in 66.29% and 91.06% reductions in disease severity in panicles and seeds, respectively. Additionally, it increased rice yield up to 1,487 kg/ Acre, compared to 1,217 kg/ Acre in the control treatments.
