<p>The research aims to explore the influence of musical play on the development of hot and cold executive functions in 4-5-year-old children. The study selected 60 children from a kindergarten in a certain city in eastern China as the experimental subjects. A two-factor experimental design of 2 (groups: experimental class, control class) × 2 (time: pre-test, post-test) was employed. During the intervention period, the experimental class participated in musical play twice a week for 30&#xa0;min each time for a total of 10 weeks. The results showed that musical play had an impact on the hot and cold executive functions in 4-5-year-old children. Among them, the working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility in the cold executive function of the children were effectively improved. There was a significant improvement in affective decision making in hot executive function, but no significant improvement was observed in delay of gratification.</p>
