This article revisits the content of a paper published over 10 years ago in this journal that provided practical strategies for scholars seeking to publish in the field of early childhood education (Hoot & Szente, 2013). Advice to academic authors is centered around eight issues that contribute to success with scholarly writing. These include: (1) identifying publication outlets, (2) deciding on manuscript types, (3) complying with author guidelines and submission processes, (4) understanding ethical practices in scholarly writing, (5) establishing authorship, (6) using emerging technology tools, (7) capitalizing on writing support, and (8) responding appropriately to peer review. This article also shares information about the types of reviewer feedback authors may expect to receive and provides two lists of journals focusing on early childhood and closely related fields.
