<p>The Northern wolffish <i>Anarhichas denticulatus</i> is reported here for the first time in Portuguese continental waters at 315&#xa0;m deep in the subtropical Ormonde Seamount. This observation marks a substantial southward extension of the species’ known range in the Northeastern Atlantic. The identification of the specimen, a mature spawning female measuring 950&#xa0;mm, was confirmed by analyses of diagnostic morphological characters and further validated by DNA barcoding of the 652&#xa0;bp region of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I gene. The estimated sea temperature at capture (13.05&#xa0;°C) exceeded previously reported adult thermal thresholds (11.0&#xa0;°C), suggesting a broader thermal tolerance. This record extends the known range of this species in the Northeastern Atlantic by seven degrees latitude southwards, as well as the known thermal range. These findings highlight its potential for long-distance dispersal and colonization of suboptimal habitats as well as providing novel insight into the distribution, ecology, and environmental adaptability of <i>A. denticulatus</i> in Atlantic waters.</p>
