<p>To enhance the sustainability of the energy sector, it is imperative for governmental bodies to prioritize the integration of renewable energy systems and identify the most effective sources of renewable energy. The decision-making process within this sector is complex, often hindered by the presence of conflicting criteria that need to be balanced. This paper introduces the integrated Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) model, a novel approach designed to navigate these challenges by evaluating five key renewable energy sources: solar, wind, hydroelectric, biomass, and geothermal energies. The Method Based on the Removal Effects of Criteria (MEREC) methodology is employed to ascertain the significance of various criteria, followed by the application of the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) technique to establish a hierarchy among the renewable energy technologies based on their efficiency and suitability. A case study conducted in Vietnam serves to validate the model’s practicality. The findings reveal that, according to the criteria set forth, hydroelectric energy emerges as the most favorable option, aligning with the objectives and policy frameworks of the decision-makers involved.</p>
