Competition Within Cooperation or Cooperation Within Competition? China’s Deposit Insurance Market and Bio-Inspired Algorithms
摘要
We employ biomimetic algorithms to investigate the trade-off between cooperation and competition in the Chinese deposit insurance market. Our study introduces two key innovations. First, we develop two novel analytical models for assessing the state of the deposit insurance market, evaluated using the synthesis of convergence curve graphs, Quantile-Quantile plots, and 3D surface maps. Second, we construct an AHP-DEA-Malmquist model based on input-output analysis and both static and dynamic assessments to examine changes in bank efficiency during different states of the deposit insurance market between 2015 and 2023. Our findings reveal that the cooperation within competition model aligns more closely with the realities of China’s insured banking market, demonstrating superior performance through convergence and simulation analyses. Using real data from insured banks, we confirm the positive impact of the 2015 market state and the negative impact of the 2021 market state on banking efficiency from a time-series perspective. This study addresses performance issues in the Chinese deposit insurance market that previous research has insufficiently explored. Moreover, the novel optimization algorithms we propose open new avenues for solving numerous practical financial and economic challenges.
