Chromones from the Stem Bark of Cassia alata and Their Anti-TMV Activities
摘要
The Cassia genus (Leguminosae) has attracted a lot of attention as a prolific source of chromones with diverse structures and biological properties. The aim of this study was to screen the antiviral activities of chromones from Cassia alata. The extract of stem bark of this plant was separated using silica gel, MCI, ODS C18, and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, as well as semipreparative HPLC. As a result, two new chromones (1 and 2), together with five known analogs (3–7) were isolated. Their structures were determined by means of HR-ESI-MS and extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies. Interestingly, the anti-tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) test revealed that compounds 1 and 2 showed notable anti-TMV activity with inhibition rates of 40.2 ± 2.9% and 46.5 ± 3.1%, respectively. These rates are close to that of the positive control.
