<p>A new pyranone derivative, xylariolid Z, was isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of the endophytic fungus <i>Phoma betae</i> A. B. Frank from the desert plant <i>Kalidium foliatum</i> through diverse separation techniques. In addition, four known compounds were identified from the extract. The structures of these compounds were determined by spectroscopic analyses such as 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy and high-resolution mass spectrometry.</p>
