<p>Two new anthraquinone derivatives, named 1,3,6,8-tetrahydroxy-2-(methoxymethyl)anthracene-9,10-dione (<b>1</b>) and 1,3,6,8-tetrahydroxy-2-methylanthracene-9,10-dione (<b>2</b>), together with a known <i>γ</i>-pyrone derivative, kojic acid (<b>3</b>), were isolated from the mangrove rhizosphere soil-derived fungus <i>Aspergillus</i> sp. N4-8. The structures of compounds <b>1</b> and <b>2</b> were elucidated by combined spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR spectral data. Compounds <b>2</b> and <b>3</b> showed antibacterial activities.</p>
