<p></p><p>An optimized procedure for the preparation of benzoaza-15-crown-5 is described, and a series of <i>N</i>-substituted derivatives with substituents of various natures have been synthesized. The crystal structure of <i>N</i>-phenylbenzoaza-15-crown-5 was determined by X-ray diffraction. The effect of substituent nature in benzoazacrown ether molecules on its complexation with alkali and alkaline earth metal cations was evaluated by spectrophotometric titration method.</p>
