<p></p><p>A practical and environmentally benign protocol for the synthesis of polysubstituted thiazolo[5,4-<i>e</i>]indoles has been developed. This method employs arylglyoxals, 1,3-benzothiazol-6-amine, and 5,5-dimethylcyclohexane-1,3-dione or cyclohexane-1,3-dione as starting materials. The synthetic approach is metal-free, the reaction conditions are mild, and the product is readily separable.</p>
