Degradation of Polyethylene in the Presence of Nickel(II) 2-Ethylhexanoate
摘要
Results are given for a study of the degradation of polyethylene to give hydrocarbons in the presence of catalysts formed upon the decomposition of nickel (II) 2-ethylhexanoate acting as a precursor. The thermocatalytic degradation of the polymer was carried out upon heating at 300-400°C with recirculation of the volatile hydrocarbons for 0.5-1.5 h in the presence of the catalyst followed by distillation at atmospheric pressure to give liquid hydrocarbons in 72.5% yield. The catalyst was introduced with the polymer:catalyst mass ratio equal to 1:0.03-0.06 into a 40-45% solution of nickel(II) 2-ethylhexanoate in benzene. The composition of the distilled fractions was determined.
