<p>Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) accounts for 40% of lung cancers and the rate of clinical detection is increasing year by year. Mitochondrial ribosomal protein L15 (MRPL15) is a mitochondrial ribosomal protein whose high expression has been associated with the development of many cancers; however, the role of MRPL15 on the proliferation of LUAD remains unclear. In this study, MRPL15 expression was measured in cancer tissues and paracancers of patients with LUAD, and the correlation between MRPL15 and the tumor growth marker, the marker of proliferation Ki-67 (MKI67), was examined. Overexpression and knockdown of MRPL15 in LUAD cells to ascertain its effect of MRPL15 on the proliferation of LUAD cells. The results displayed that MRPL15 was highly expressed in LUAD tissues compared to adjacent tissues. MRPL15 expression was positively correlated with the expression of MKI67. Elevated expression of MRPL15 advanced the proliferation of LUAD cells; conversely, downregulation of MRPL15 restrained the proliferation of LUAD cells. In conclusion, MRPL15 promotes the proliferation of LUAD cells, and MRPL15 may serve as a potential marker or a therapeutic target for LUAD.</p>
