Canadian Heterosexual Men’s Viewing Time Response and Subjective Sexual Arousal to Nude Images Depicting Cisgender and Feminine Transgender Adults
摘要
Sexual attraction and arousal to feminine transgender males (i.e., natal males who present in a feminine manner), who may or may not have breasts, but who retain their penises, has been referred to as gynandromorphophilia. Previous research indicates that some capacity for gynandromorphophilia may reflect a cross-culturally invariant feature of male gynephilia (i.e., the sexual attraction and arousal to adult females). This study examined Canadian cisgender gynephilic men’s (n = 63) sexual attraction and arousal to nude images depicting cisgender females, cisgender males, and feminine transgender males with and without breasts. Sexual attraction was measured using viewing time (response time latency), and subjective arousal was measured on a Likert-type scale. Participants spent significantly more time viewing images of cisgender females and rated these images as significantly more arousing than all other image categories. Participants spent significantly more time viewing images of feminine transgender males with breasts than cisgender males and feminine transgender males without breasts. Participants rated cisgender females as more arousing than all other stimulus categories, and feminine transgender males with breasts as more arousing than masculine males and feminine transgender males without breasts. These data partially align with past research and further suggest that, when viewing images in a laboratory context, female sex-based traits influence male sexual attraction and arousal to a greater degree than feminine gender-based traits.
