Lungenkrebsfrüherkennung in Deutschland – ab April 2026 eine kassenärztliche Leistung
摘要
For heavy current and former smokers aged 50–75 years, low-dose computed tomography (LD-CT) for early detection of lung cancer will be offered as a regular benefit by statutory health insurances in Germany as from 2026.
ObjectiveThe evidence, risks, requirements, procedure and implementation of the lung cancer screening program including the current status are presented.
Material and methodsThis article gives a summary of current data and reports on early detection of lung cancer using LD-CT and a description of the planned implementation of the lung cancer screening program.
ResultsThe systematic analysis of randomized controlled trials for early detection of lung cancer using LD-CT by the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in the Healthcare system (IQWiG) concluded that the risk of dying from lung cancer can be reduced by LD-CT screening. The legal basis for the eligibility to obtain LD-CT-screening within the lung cancer screening program is already covered by the Lung Cancer Screening Ordinance. The mandatory offer of a smoking cessation program is linked to the lung cancer screening by LD-CT.
ConclusionThe implementation of the lung cancer screening using LD-CT is expected to start in April 2026 onwards, a milestone for cancer prevention in Germany. The expected effect of the systematic screening program remains to be confirmed after the successful, nationwide introduction.
