<p>Climate change has an impact on all people, also on those with respiratory diseases and especially with asthma. This article describes the climate-related changes in the pollen count and air-borne allergens and last but not least neophytes. The impact of major climatic events is illustrated by the case of thunderstorm asthma. Knowledge could be gleaned from this that led to a reevaluation of the short-acting beta‑2 agonists (SABA). The respiratory effects of forest fires and bushfires as well as the results of flooding are presented. Climate change and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), respiratory infections and last but not least climate and sleep are discussed. The focus is therefore on the technology-dependent population and dangers caused by climate change. The article ends with thoughts on emergency situations and local assistance, an appeal to include respiratory considerations in regional planning and urban development as well as sources of information for federal, regional and municipal climate change-related future preparations regarding global warming and climate protection.</p>
