摘要

Aim

This paper aims to analyze the experiences of program facilitators and students who implemented the Lions Quest “Skills for Adolescence” (LQSFA) program in a Slovenian elementary school in the school year 2023/2024.

Subject and methods

Thirty-seven program facilitators from 20 Slovenian schools and 567 students from 18 Slovenian schools that implemented the program answered questionnaires tailored to the program facilitators and students. The questionnaires included questions on demographic characteristics, program information, and satisfaction with the LQSFA program, including an assessment of the extent to which the program supports students’ social-emotional learning.

Results

Results indicate that a significant proportion of program facilitators and students perceive the positive impact of the LQSFA program, although some do not share this opinion. Satisfaction with the program likely depends on how the program is implemented, as the correlation between program evaluation and the regularity of student participation in program activities suggests that more intensive participation leads to a more positive evaluation of the program’s contribution to students’ social-emotional learning.

Conclusion

The strengths of the program lie in its focus on social-emotional learning and its scope and structure, while the weaknesses lie mainly in its lack of adaptation to the Slovenian organization of the educational system and school curriculum. The results provide an outlook on the need to better position the program in the school curriculum in order to maximize its potential and ensure quality management and continuous evaluation.
