<p>Plant growth regulators (PGRs) such as auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, abscisic acid and ethylene play a&#xa0;pivotal role in the growth, productivity and quality enhancement of fruit crops. Their exogenous application has been shown to influence key physiological processes including flowering, fruit set and retention, ripening, shelf life and stress resilience. However, their effectiveness is governed by multiple factors such as crop species, developmental stage, environmental conditions and application dose. Improper use may lead to adverse effects such as poor fruit quality, excessive vegetative growth or delayed ripening. Despite widespread use, there remains a&#xa0;need for region- and crop-specific studies to optimize formulations, improve field-level efficacy and promote environmentally sustainable use. Consequently, it is of the utmost importance to present this data in a&#xa0;clear, concise and comprehensive manner to benefit scientists, researchers and farmers. This review aims to provide an overview of the available literature, highlight valuable reviews and present up-to-date information on the role of plant hormones and their impact on various physiological and morphological processes of fruit crops.</p>
