<p>Natural edible coatings offer a&#xa0;safe, effective, and economical way to extend the shelf life of fruits without causing pollution. Neem contains azadirachtin, which provides growth regulation, insecticidal, and fungicidal benefits. Additionally, <i>Aloe vera</i>-based coatings possess antimicrobial properties that further enhance fruit storability. The effect of <i>Aloe vera</i> (AV) coating and the combination of AV and neem leaf extract (NLE) coating on the postharvest life of cold stored (5–6 <sup>0</sup>C and 90–95% RH) ‘Kinnow’ mandarin (<i>Citrus reticulata</i> cv. ‘Blanco’) was studied for a&#xa0;period of 75&#xa0;days. The fruits were analyzed for physical and biochemical parameters at 30, 45, 60,&#xa0;and 75&#xa0;days. An increase in weight loss and spoilage percentage was observed with the increase in storage, but these rates were low in coated fruits. The results revealed that application of a&#xa0;composite coating of AV and NLE led to a&#xa0;slower decline in the levels of total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) as compared to untreated fruits. Coated fruits also retained better antioxidant activity than untreated fruits during the storage period. The coating of 50% AV + 20% NLE proved to be the most effective treatment in retaining the highest levels of titratable acidity, total soluble solids, ascorbic acid, TPC, TFC, and antioxidant activity at the end of the 75-day storage period.</p>
