<p>The present study carried out at the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, during 2021–2023, investigated the impact of gamma irradiation and chitosan coating on the quality of healthy and partially granulated ‘Dancy’ tangerine fruits stored under ambient conditions (25 ± 5 °C and 65–70% RH) for up to 21&#xa0;days. Our observations revealed that individual applications of gamma irradiation or chitosan effectively maintained fruit quality. Gamma irradiation significantly increased phenolic and flavonoid content, with healthy and granulated fruits displaying over a&#xa0;twofold increase compared to control fruits. Similarly, chitosan-coated fruits maintained approximately 33% higher carotenoid content in healthy fruits and 26% higher in granulated fruits compared to non-coated fruits on the 21st day of storage. However, a&#xa0;combined treatment of gamma irradiation and chitosan had a&#xa0;negative impact on nutritional quality. A&#xa0;strong negative correlation was identified between carotenoid content and lipoxygenase enzyme activity. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the postharvest treatments of tangerines with gamma irradiation (300 Gy) or chitosan (1.5%) when applied individually have the potential to maintain the fruit quality in terms of antioxidant content, total phenolic, and total flavonoid content for up to 3&#xa0;weeks under ambient storage conditions.</p>
