<p>Methyl jasmonate (MeJA), a&#xa0;natural phytochemical growth regulator, improves the plant and produce tolerances against environmental stressors through the activation of a&#xa0;series of defense mechanisms. MeJA is approved as a&#xa0;safe compound as an effective protectant in consumed products by international organizations. In the present study, effects of preharvest MeJA pulverizations (0.0, 0.5, 1.0&#xa0;and 2.0 mM) on postharvest quality of ‘Crimson Seedless’ grapes harvested from the soilless grown vines within the glasshouse were investigated during cold storage at 1 °C for 80&#xa0;days. Physical and biochemical analyses performed at 20-day intervals revealed that MeJA treatments effectively extended the quality of grapes by delaying the decrease in berry physical resistance properties (weight loss, berry detachment and skin rupture forces), marketability attributes (visual quality, berry skin color features), biochemicals (soluble solid content, titratable acidity and pH) and bioactive features (total phenol, antioxidant activity). Among the doses, 0.5 mM MeJA could be recommended as an alternative to chemical-based applications for the successful cold storage of seedless grapes as it was the most effective on many investigated quality parameters.</p>
