First report of cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus on cucumber in Japan
摘要
In 2023, cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) plants in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, older leaves developed yellowing, which was suspected to be caused by a virus. To identify the virus species extracted from the yellowing leaves, we sequenced its complete genome. The deduced amino acid sequence of the virus had 93.7–99.3% sequence identities with the cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus (CABYV) collected in Japan, South Korea and China. We showed that the virus was transmitted by Aphis gossypii Glover. This is the first report of the occurrence of CABYV in Japan.
